When Janie was young, she was a very shy and quiet. Her quietness got worse when her mother died. She was only four years old, but the fact that she was at her bedside and watched the woman who gave her life take her final breath virtually destroyed her. Her father moved on fairly quickly and married a woman not even two months after his first wife’s death. Janie was unaware of the fact that the woman he married was her father’s mistress, and poisoned her mother to have him all to herself. When she was five years old, her half sister Clara was born. Even though her father tried his best to love each of his daughters equally, Clara tended to be the favourite. When she was twenty years old, her father’s best friend, Henry Mahoney, offered her a job at one of his hotel chains. Knowing she was an intelligent young lady, he would use her as his assistant, and often, much more.

Now, five years later, she is still working for Henry Mahoney, and has virtually become her late stepmother. She was one of the first victims of The Luxurious Death, and it destroyed her father. Janie is having an affair with Henry. It began as a one time thing for her, she was young and very drunk. However, as soon as he began threatening to tell the world of their evening together, and ruin Janie’s pristine reputation, if they didn’t continue, Janie had no choice. She hated who she had become, and that she was sleeping with one of her father’s closest friends.

Janie is a gentle and caring young woman, always putting others before herself. She always has been a very reserved girl, but she is very sweet and pleasant to all those she meets. Even though she wants nothing more than to leave her job as Henry Mahoney’s assistant, she is very determined to do her best at it. However intelligent she may be, Janie has a tendency to be very naïve and gullible, always seeing the best in everyone, and often refuses to see the bad.

Even though she remains loyal to the Mahoney’s, Janie never understood the rivalries her father and so many others have for the other families. She is very distraught about the sickness as well. It has already taken her stepmother, and both her father and her boss are infected. She doesn’t want to see anyone die, let alone people she’s close to.
